A journey of self-discovery: The Junction All Stars 'I AM' Concert

12 Jul 2016

The many talents of The Junction All Stars were celebrated at Casula earlier this month, in a performing arts production called ‘I AM’.

Held on July 5th at Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre (CPAC), over 100 young men and women from The Junction Works’ disability services took to the stage, performing to a full-house in a stream of over 20 acts.

Performances ranged from ukulele, drumming and singing, to hip-hop, theatre and ballroom dancing – accompanied by on-screen photography and videography compositions, which were produced by some of the All-Stars performers.

“This year, we wanted to focus on the expectations and limits that people living with disability often place on themselves,” said Adrienne Coulter, Artistic and Musical Director of the I AM production.

“The theme for this performance was driven by the realm of possibility in the universe, and therefore the realm of possibility that makes up their life. We want to inspire them to imagine and explore beyond what they think is possible.”

The All Stars showcase their imagination, creativity, skills and achievements in new shows twice a year.

The Junction Works would like to thank all who attended, as well as Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre, Liverpool City Council and Mermaid Warrior Productions for making I AM a success. To see more photos, please visit The Junction Works' official Facebook page

The next performance of The Junction All Stars will take place at Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre on 14th December 2016, in celebration of International Day of People with Disability. For more information, please contact The Junction Works on 8777 0500 or via info@thejunctionworks.org.
