This week long-term corporate partner of The Junction Works, Meridian IT, hosted a successful charity auction that raised an impressive $10,000 to support young adults with a disability.
Taking place on December 7 at Sea Life Sydney Aquarium, the charity event brought together Meridian IT clients and suppliers in support of The Junction Works’ much-needed Living Skills & Respite House - the construction of which is being planned to commence in late 2017.
“The Living Skills & Respite House is designed to enable people with a disability to overcome their individual challenges, and to move into more independent living arrangements,” said Chris Campbell, CEO of The Junction Works.
“It will also provide respite opportunities to relieve the constancy of care experienced by family members and carers.”
Present at the Meridian IT function were young adults with disabilities and their families who have formed long-term relationships with The Junction Works. Amongst these individuals was Tina Molluso, who spoke about the positive impact of The Junction Works’ disability support received by her sister, Francesca.
“The relationship that we have developed with The Junction Works has been really important for Francesca and for her family,” said Tina.
“Their interest, friendliness and response to our needs make us feel valued, and not just like a number.”
Community engagement through occasions such as the Meridian IT function has played a key role in raising funds for the Living Skills & Respite House, which will develop confidence and skills for young adults like Francesca into the future.
The event has followed numerous other initiatives by award-winning Meridian IT to support The Junction Works, including their sponsorship of the 2016 Charity Golf Day, as well as the SPARK Creative Arts Festival that supported over 350 people with a disability this year.
“Meridian IT has played an important role in assisting The Junction Works’ expansion of services for children and adults with a disability in South West Sydney,” said Chris Campbell.
The Junction Works would like to thank Steve White, Country Manager at Meridian IT and his staff for their active role in helping individuals, families and communities in need across South West Sydney.
