Living Skills & Respite House: A new space to support our clients and families 25 Oct 2016 Pictured: (L to R) CEO Chris Campbell with Alka and Sushil Anand at The Junction Works' recent Charity Golf Day. Following on from the success of recent fundraising campaigns and events, The Junction Works is thrilled to announce developments in the plans for its new facility, the Living Skills & Respite House. This announcement comes with great anticipation, given that the establishment of a new site to support young adults with a disability and their families was a distant dream for the organisation as little as two years ago. Through the generosity of The Junction Works' families, supporters and corporate sponsors, the construction of the new facility is planned to occur sooner than initially expected. “This is great news for the people we support and their parents and carers,” said The Junction Works CEO, Chris Campbell. Land for the Living Skills & Respite House is being generously provided by local philanthropists Dr Sushil and Mrs Alka Anand, in the heart of the South West Sydney Growth Centre. This development has enabled The Junction Works to commence the design phase of the project. "Planned respite and emergency accommodation for people with a disability and their families is currently a service deficit in South West Sydney," said Chris. "The facility will support the needs, aspirations and wellbeing of young men and women with a disability in South West Sydney." The facility will be built over a single level using Livable Housing Design Principles, Platinum Design Accessibility, meaning the space will be easy to navigate and responsive to the changing needs of occupants. The Junction Works acknowledges and thanks the support of individuals, families and corporations who, through donations, sponsorships and word-of-mouth, are ensuring that this much-needed facility will be established. Further funds will be required to assist with the general and specialist fitout and landscaping of the facility.
