Young men and women of TJW strut their stuff at the 2016 Fashion Show!

21 Mar 2016

An evening of great entertainment was shared by families, friends and supporters at The Junction Works’ Fashion Parade fundraiser, which took place on Friday the 18th of March.

Held at the Austral Service Centre, the night was a celebration of ‘friends, fun and fashion’, with young men and women of The Junction Works’ disability services taking to the stage in style. The event provided a unique opportunity for individuals supported by TJW to improve their confidence and engage with the local community.

The women were clothed by Airs and Graces, who donated 10% of sales from the evening to TJW. They were escorted down the cat walk by some dapper-looking gentlemen - showcasing the collection with great big smiles!

“The Fashion Parade is a great way for individuals with a disability to gain confidence in front of a supportive crowd”, said Marilyn Soulsby, General Manager of Services at The Junction Works. “So while the funds raised from the evening is a positive thing, it’s also about giving the young people that we support dynamic opportunities and experiences.”

The Fashion Parade raised $2,600 for the development of The Junction Works’ Living Skills & Respite House.

This much-needed facility is the future of supporting young adults with a disability, providing them with opportunities to develop the living skills required to move towards greater independence. The House will also provide parents and carers with vital respite from the constancy of care.

The development of The Junction Works’ Living Skills and Respite House relies exclusively on donations and is currently in its planning stage. You can find out more about the progress of this great resource by clicking here.
